Coaching Juventus? Why not, says AC Milan boss Montella

Vincenzo Montella is open to the possibility of one day managing Juventus and would also like to take charge of a team in London.

The AC Milan boss will send his side into battle against Juve in Turin on Friday in a crucial Serie A clash.

And ahead of the game he was surprisingly open in acknowledging he would not rule out following in the footsteps of opposite number Massimiliano Allegri, who won the Scudetto with Milan during a three-and-a-half-year tenure from June 2010 to January 2014.

Montella also suggested he would be keen to manage abroad, with England s capital a city he would like to work in.

He told Gazzetta dello Sport: A professional doesn t rule out anything at the start of their career, so why not?

Ramsey pleased to end opening hoodoo

Arsenal s Aaron Ramsey was pleased to avoid another opening-day disappointment after his injury-time strike sunk 10-man Crystal Palace.

Arsene Wenger s team headed into Saturday s Premier League match on a high following their emphatic 3-0 win over Manchester City in last Sunday s Community Shield at Wembley.

But Palace, playing on the back of Tony Pulis shock departure as manager on Friday, absorbed early pressure before debutant Brede Hangeland headed them into 35th-minute lead at the Emirates Stadium.

It evoked uncomfortable memories of Arsenal s 3-1 collapse at home to Aston Villa on the opening day of last season, although Laurent Koscielny eased fears by hauling Wenger s men level in first-half stoppage time.

Jaime Lozano is unsure over his future as Mexico coach after his team exited the Copa America with a whimper.

Mexico were the favourites to progress from Group B at the start of the tournament, yet instead the 2026 World Cup co-hosts find themselves as the biggest casualty so far.

Ecuador held out for a 0-0 draw on Sunday that sent them through at the expense of Mexico on goal difference.

And Lozano, who led Mexico to the Gold Cup title last year, conceded a decision on his future is out of his hands.

Whenever an objective is not meant, there is certain discomfort and doubts, that s only natural, no matter who s here, Lozano said.

Arsene Wenger s men knew that a point would guarantee them finishing top of the group, but they were ultimately able to do so even with such a poor result against the side bottom of the Bundesliga, with BATE and Red Star Belgrade drawing 0-0 in the other match.

Arsenal dominated the first half and played some slick football as they created a significant number of chances, but they were frustrated by a combination of wayward finishing, Cologne goalkeeper Timo Horn and the post.

The match was initially similarly one-sided after half-time, but Arsenal found Cologne harder to break down.

Barcelona´s Pjanic hoping to kickstart Camp Nou career under ´role model´ Xavi

Barcelona midfielder Miralem Pjanic is hoping to kickstart his Camp Nou career after being given the opportunity to play under head coach Xavi, who he considers a role model .

Pjanic s days at Barca appeared to be numbered when he was loaned to Besiktas last season, having struggled to hold down a starting spot upon arriving from Juventus in 2020.

Xavi has since replaced Ronald Koeman in the Barca managerial hotseat, however, and Pjanic appears to be part of the legendary former midfielder s plans for the coming season.

The 32-year-old featured in the recent friendly with Olot and is part of the Catalan giants squad for their pre-season tour of the United States, though he did not play any minutes in Saturday s win against Real Madrid.
